GEO Members in the Americas region are organizing a “GEOSS in the Americas Symposium” to be held on 17, 18 and 19, September 2007, at the Hotel Portobello in Mangaratiba, Brasil
The purpose of the symposium is to increase understanding of GEOSS in the region, raise awareness about existing GEOSS in the Americas activities, strengthen partnerships, and advance a dialogue about opportunities, capabilities, and requirements.
The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is an intergovernmental body of 71 governments, the European Commission, and 46 international organizations
working together to build a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). The current membership in GEO from the Americas includes:
Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, and the United States.
All GEO Members in the region are invited to participate in the planning of this event, and assistance will be provided to facilitate participation of experts from around the region, particularly from countries not currently engaged in GEO. All GEO Members and Participating Organizations are welcome to attend.

The event will be held at: Portobello Resort & Safari Hotel , 100km south of Rio de Janeiro, Village of Mangaratiba, Angra dos Reis area.

Note: The official language of the symposium is English. There will not be simultaneous interpretation.
Attention! Visa to enter in Brazil is required for foreign nationals of some countries. Please, check at a Brazilian consulate or embassy, in your country, if a visa is required for you. American, Canadian, Indian, Chinese and Japanese citizens need a VISA to enter and stay in Brazil. If you need an Invitation Letter, please a contact us.
Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is required if you have visited in the past 90 days or if you will visit one of the following countries before entering Brazil: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Cameroon, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, French Guyiana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Peru, Sierre Leone, Sudan and Venezuela.
