====== Introducing Lauren Smith ======

     Lauren is a first year PhD student in the department of Geography at the University of Exeter. She has two 
     supervisors, Dr. Luiz Aragão and Dr. Clive Sabel.
 
     Her PhD research aims to quantify the basin wide impacts of climate-induced hazards on human health 
     (respiratory and vector borne diseases) in the Brazilian Amazon. At the moment she is analyzing 
     data between January 2000 and December 2010 to find associations between environmental variables 
     and health data.  
 
     She is traveling to Brazil to meet people to discuss her research further as well as the feasibility 
     of her fieldwork which will commence next year and adaptation framework also to find out whether the 
     researchers would be interested in working with her.
