Version 5.0 - News and Improvements
This new version of SPRING has the
following improvements compared with old versions:
The Database organisation in SPRING
5.0
has been modified to increase its speed and efficiency. As a result, all
databases from previous versions will be converted to the new format.
Once
converted, the new database can not be used in earlier versions of
Spring. In the conversion process, the SPRING 5.0 provides a
possibility to automatically create a backup
copy of your database. Use of this option is recommended.
Activating
a Database from a previous version in the SPRING
5.0 will trigger the backup and conversion process. You will be
warned when this happens, and appropriate options for making backups or
canceling will be aviable, easying migration to the new format.
IMPORTANT: A SPRING
5.0 Database is not compatible with previous SPRING versions.
The main interface SPRING
5.0 was
remodelled to facilitate the work with the various windows for viewing
data. Its main changes are:
1)
the screens of

there is a field containing the names of the screen that allows you to
select the active screen.
The
new Control Panel
presents a set of buttons with the following features: Select, Query, Vector Editing,
Raster
Edition, Draw and Help.
A
sheet of Available Infolayers
shows the Plans of Information
with yours respective categories. Each category has an icon with a

In order to allow the

This
makes possible to use of entire radiometric resolution of images with
more than 8 bits, such as images from IKONOS
or QuickBird satellite.
In
this version, the GRIB

are generated by the application IMPIMA.
