Make Layer Valid
It is accessible through:
Tools > Make Layer
Valid...
The Make Layer Valid is used
to
try to correct the geometries of a layer. Valid/corrected
geometries are saved in the first output file. Those that
still invalid after this process are saved in the second output
file (it can be empty at the end). Thus, the user can safely
observe and decide what to do with these geometries.
Under the "Operation" tab :
- Input data:
Select the layer that will be analyzed (Only vector layers).
- Define a name for the first layer where the
valid geometries will be stored.
- Define a name for the second layer where the invalid
geometries will be stored.
Under
the "Options" tab :
- Output geometry type: The
output geometry type will be automatically detected if this
field is left blank. Depending on the input data
source/geometry type the output geometry type must be set
manually. Example: Given an input shape file data set of
polygons/multi-polygons the output geometry type must be set
to "PolygonType".
Once
all the input parameters were set, to execute the operation:
- Click on

- Click Yes to add the layer to the TerraView Project. (Most of
the time the second layer will be empty, so remove it).
The vertical tab Report
give you a summary of the operation.
