Make Layer Valid
Make Layer Valid is used to fix all invalid geometry on a layer (see check geometry tool).
Valid geometries are saved in the first output file. Those that are
still invalid after this process are saved in the second output file
and the user can view and decide what to do with them. Most of the
time, the second output layer is empty and can be removed.
It is accessible via:
Tools > Make Layer
Valid...
Under the vertical tab Operation :
- Input data:
Select the layer name.
- Define the first output layer where the
valid geometries will be saved.
- Define the second output layer where the invalid
geometries will be saved.
Under
the vertical tab Options:
- Output geometry type:
If left blank, the output geometry type will be automatically detected
based on the input geometry type. Sometimes the input layer mixes
geometry types and in this case it will be set the
most comprehensive geometry type.
For example, if the layer
mixes POLYGON and MULTIPOLYGON, MULTIPOLYGON will be set as the output
geometry type. It is also possible to set manually, choosing one of the
available options that makes sense.
To execute the operation:
- Click on

- Click Yes to add the layer to the TerraView Project. (Most of
the time the second layer will be empty, so remove it).
The vertical tab Report
give you a summary of the operation.
The vertical tab Help open this html.
HINT:
The geometry type of the input layer can be found by right-clicking the
layer name (in the Layer Explorer interface) and choosing the Properties option.
HINT: Use the Check Geometry Validity
option in Vector Processing menu to list invalid geometries.
