Gilberto Ribeiro de Queiroz

Welcome! I work with research and development on Geoinformatics in the Image Processing Division (DPI) of INPE, Brazil's National Institute for Space Research.

I have a doctorate on Applied Computer with emphasis in spatial database systems and also a Master degree in Geometric Algorithms at INPE.

Currently I'm one of the leaders in the technical development of the next generation of an open source GIS library, TerraLib. Since July 2014 I'm also the chief architect of the TerraMA2, a computational system, based on a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), which provides the technological infrastructure required to develop operational systems for environmental risks monitoring and alert.

In the past, I had the honour to serve as an auxliar professor in INPE's course on geographic database systems lead by Dr. Gilberto Camara.

My main research interests areas are:

  • Geospatial Databases and Geo Web Services
  • Computational Geometry
  • Programming Languages: specially C++, Lua and Python
