Avalição de imagens WFI/CBERS-4 no estudo dos tipos de água da Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável de Mamirauá (AM)

Resumo

Satellite images are recognized as a data source for the monitoring of inland waters. Amazon Rivers have a seasonal dynamic influenced by the Amazon flood pulse. In this context, WFI/CBERS-4 sensor benefits the observation of Amazon due to high frequency acquisition (5 days) and wide swath (866 km) that contributes to overcome limitations of high cloud cover and large areas. In this paper, our objective is to investigate the seasonal water-leaving reflectance from WFI images over Japura and Solimões rivers. The results show seasonal water color variability between upstream, downstream of Japurá river and at its confluence with Solimões river. The existence of channel connecting Solimões and Japurá during high water levels (February to August) is responsible for a large input of sediments into Japurá river. At low water levels, optical properties of Japura river becomes more similar to those of floodplain lakes and rias, characterized by low concentration of inorganic suspended particles. Therefore, WFI images proved to be useful for the study of Amazon aquatic systems, specially, where wide swath observation and high temporal resolution are required to record water color dynamics.
