Origin / Source / Reference
In species distribution modeling, environmental data are usually related to the information about the physical environment such as soil, topography, geology and vegetation cover, and information regarding climate such as temperature and precipitation.
Official institutions were responsible to generate these data based on maps, satellite images, aerial photographs, platforms of data collection, and meteorological stations.
The raw data are usually refined by using of techniques of classification/grouping in the case of remote sensing images, and interpolation techniques in the case of meteorological ground stations data.
Once environmental maps are produced, they are available at grid format (grid, image or raster) and can be used as input for the algorithms at SDM activities.
The reference and data source for each environmental data are described at its specific webpage.
