Introduction

Due to the free access of computational tools for modeling and geographic information systems (GIS) on the internet, studies concerning species distribution modeling (SDM) have become widely frequent. For most species distribution modeling experiments the basic requirements are: a minimum number of geo-referenced data of species occurrences, and environmental data that must be related to occurrence of the species and in accordance with to the scale of analysis.

In order to facilitate the activities of INPE’s research group on biodiversity, a database containing the most frequent environmental data set for SDM has been systematized, gathering data from different official sources. Only the vertical distance to drainage and the drainage density data were generated by INPE’s team. Every other environmental data were solely accessed, clipped and converted to file formats that can be directly used as input for GIS and the most species distribution modeling tools available, such as Bioclim, openModeller and Maxent.

All of these environment data are detailed and described at Data Description and available for Downloading.
